the games we play aren't just games. they're real. within each cartridge, cd, or mini-disc is an entire virtual world full of amazing characters. what we also don't know is that they're in danger...

it began with one character, infected with an unknown virus. that character was corrupted and transformed into something else entirely. the virus spread faster than anyone could imagine. from one game to the next, it bleed from virtual world to virtual world, claiming many lives. to save themselves, characters began to escape into our world. those strange characters became normal, human, indistinguishable from the players who helped create them.

unable to return to their worlds, and fearing they had been corrupted beyond repair by the virus, the characters set up new lives together in a strip of new york city that they affectionately began calling "game town." this is their story.
