what is this game about?
video game characters who are forced from their virtual worlds by a virus and shoved together in the real world. they're forced to live as real humans with memories (and sometimes special abilities) of their former lives. it's a game about community, mostly.

where is it set?
in the fictional "game town" otherwise known as manhattan, new york. a few streets have been established as "game town" due to the fact that the residences are all former video game characters. to the outside world, there's nothing strange about it. to those living on the streets in the businesses, homes, and apartments, it's "game town," ruled over by mayor toadstool. it's like a secret society of sorts.

this sounds a lot like fables...
it is! we're using the basic idea and switching it from fairytale characters to video game characters. all credit for the basis goes to the comic series fables it's amazing.

who is "the virus"?
nobody knows! it started with one corrupted character who infected their world, which spread throughout all of the virtual worlds. the only way to keep from getting deleted was to come to the real world. sadly, there's no way back. not that anyone has found yet anyway.

who can i play?
any character who has appeared in a video game. yes, we're aware this includes a lot of anime characters. that's fine. they all just have to have regular pb faces. if you have any interest in playing one of the virsus' minions (or an "infected"), we can work something out. it's bound to have one or two spies running around game town!

who can't i play?
we won't accept any myspace/scene kids. sorry. in terms of characters, we're really open! if you're not sure, just ask.

can my character live outside of game town?
yes. characters are allowed to live anywhere in the world once outside of the virtual world! however, most of them live in game town because it's safer and they have a special society to be part of. plus, telling some normal person that you used to be sonic the hedgehog can end badly...

can my character have special powers or abilities?
yes, but we will be limiting this. some game characters are super godly powerful and that just wouldn't work. for the most part, they're normal people with better skills. lara croft isn't going to forget how to raid tombs just because she's in a new body. princess zelda might retain a bit of her magical powers but her pointed ears would be gone. kirby it's a little pink ball anymore, he's tall and fleshy. does that make sense?

do note that all characters are human. they'll age and die like normal humans. that's why they're so eager to get back to their worlds!

what are "players"?
this is the name game characters (or g.c.s) have given the normal, average, everyday people. after all, it's those people who create and control them in their former lives.

what positions/occupations are available in game town?
there's a ton! since they run their own society, they have a mayor, a deputy, street crews, file keepers, "special" shop owners, even their own militia. there are a lot of responsibilities, to be covered. if you have any interest in something particular, feel free to contact us! the only spot not available is the important role of the mayor. he'll be an npc (non-player character).

how long has "game town" been established?
five years. the first to escape their infected world was those of super mario brothers fame. thus, mayor toadstool was an obvious choice for mayor. every day they get more and more residence. so feel free to play someone who's been there since the beginning or bring them in new! but do note that someone from say a newer game like xbox 360's mass effect wouldn't be more than a few months old since the game just came out!

can i choose a male character but a female pb?
yup. that might be pretty funny, actually! can you imagine princess peach with zac efron's face? hilarious!

do my characters have to have their game name?
no. lara croft will probably be called lara by the people of game town, but to the outside world she'll be known as sarah smith to keep her true identity safe. for example.

how old can my character be?
any age you want. there's no limit to how young or old they can be!

what's the character limit?
three for now. we'll raise it if we see you're active with all three.

what's this game rated?
m for mature! sex, violence, harsh language are all welcome. if you're not comfortable with that then this probably isn't the game for you.

what are the communities for?
[info]gametown is for character introductions, threads, and aim logs. all threads and aim logs should be formated like this:
who: list the characters involved
where: where does the majority of the scene take place?
when: when does it take place? remember game-time moves in real-time!
what: a brief summary of what happens or will happen!
rating: only necessary for logs and threads containing adult themes. this way people aren't surprised but sudden gratuitous sex or something!

[info]gamechat is for all your ooc needs.
[info]gamevideos is for everything random like videos, lyrics, whatever!
[info]gamelines is where you pimp for storylines before or after joining.

do i have to thread or log?
no. it's optional but encouraged, that was the mods know you're being active!

what's the update limit?
there isn't one. we just want to know you're active, logging, aiming, and/or threading. you can update your journal if you wish but it's not required.

do i need a first entry to apply?
sort of. you need something. a detailed first person entry, a bio, or a list of bullet points -- something to let everyone know what your character is all about.
